Rover match 11th August 2013

The first Rover trophy match ofthe year took place on Willows lake and this time the carp were feeding. Dave Smith and Dave chadler had the big bags, leaving the others to trail with a fraction of the winning weight. Even though it was a Rover, with only 9 fishing everyone got the peg they wanted making for a very friendly match. Notably Brian Cripps caught a near 6lb bream. The weigh-in was:

Dave Smith 57-13-0 8 Carp from peg 54

Dave Chandler 41-2-0 5 carp peg 44

Over 60's match 7th August 2013

Despite reports of good catches from Alders on pleasure sessions the fish did not want to come out to play when fourteen oldies turned up for the latest in the over 60’s series. All looked good from the car park with several areas showing evidence of fish feeding but as usual as soon as the whistle went the fish went into hiding.  All caught a few fish early on but struggled to get bites as the day wore on.  Mervyn on Peg 15 started slowly but managed to snare a big bream around lunch time which was enough to win the match with a total weight of 4lb 2oz.  Richard Wiggins on Peg 23 and Colin Gore on Peg 21 were second and third respectively with nets of 2lb 15 and 2lb mainly made up of rudd.  Colin also battled with 2 carp managing to get one out on light gear but unluckily for him carp don’t count on Alders.  The points table is now looking tight with 4 anglers battling for top spot and only 4 points between them but Dave Smith is heading the race with 28 points.
