Club Championship 7th April 2013

The final round of the club championship, delayed by snow and canoes, took place on Avington. With several possible winners of the cash prizes a field of 12 turned out for a last shot at the placings. In the event the weights were small, and with most of his challengers failing to score, and the big points being won by other people, third place was enough to crown Dave Smith as club champion by a large margin. The winner on the day was Steve Myers followed by Henry Sadler. The runners up in the overall championship were Vinny Bonnick and Martin Pallett.

The weights were:

Steve Myers 2lb 9oz

Henry Sadler 2lb 8oz

Dave Smith 1lb 8oz

Rover Match 25th November 2012

The rover trophy entertained just a small field of anglers at Avington. After so much rain the canal was flowing like a river and well coloured, but it seemed to bring out the fish for some people. The weights were patchy, the unusual conditions possibly catching some out. The weights were:

Wilf Squires 11-15-0

Vinny Bonnick 9-14-0

Martin Pallett 6-9-0

Rover Match 16th December 2012

The canal at Step Up Cottage was the venue for the penultimate rover trophy match. This brought a larger field out in icy conditions, which made the fish hard to tempt. Weights were smal and apart from three runaway leaders the rest were looking for scraps, and several blanks. The end result in the table leaves a four horse race for the title in the final match on 1st January. The result was:

Les Durnford 3-7-0

Brian Cripps 2-9-0

Henry Sadler 1-11-0
