The first river match of the Club championship was on Speen Moors, and it brough a much needed win for Martin Pallett, while the other leaders scored only low places. For most people it was fish a-plenty with some good bags being weighed in. The river is fishing well with lots of raoch and dace showing. The full result is:

The over 60s went to Dobsons for the third match of their series, with all fish counting on this visit. Even so the lake wasn't giving up its fish too easily. The top places were separated by just 2 ounces, in a runaway head to head between Stuart Dyer and Brian Pallett. Dave Smith got a good value 3rd place just beating Colin Gore. The full result is:

The Over 60's showed a field of 14 anglers at Willowsfor their second match, hoping to catch a bit more than the previous event. In the event Dave Smith proved to be the carp king, pulling out three of them for a clear win over Richard Wiggins suggesting the best approach is to target more, smaller fish. That's two wins for Dave and two 2nd's for Richard putting them in charge of the table, with Mervyn sitting nicely in third after good results so far.

On 21st July the Club Championship visited Willows with a field of 17, no doubt expecting to get amongst the big bags of carp, but it was going to be a hard day at the office on this occasion. Weights were well down on the usual size with nobody catching more than 2 carp, and 9 anglers blanked. The event featured a rare appearance by Karen Smythe who nicked second place. Dave Smith scraped in a small silver to take the lowest points. The full run down is as follows:

The Club Championship circus moved on to Avington for the next event. in the blazing heat of 30 degrees the fish were less keen than usual to take a bait and they struggled for a good weight. It was a close run thing with Ada Ager just nicking it from Dave Smith, with Martin Pallett in third. Most of them weighed in but with a top weight of 4lb the minor points were separated by ounces.
