The Newbury AA Club Championship got under way at Willows on 17th June. This is where the competition is serious! Fished by a decent field of 18 anglers, it was likely to be a close match, eventually the top three getting over 30lb each, but then nobody else got near them. Interesting several small carp showed, which could indicate fish are breeding. The top weights were:

Ashley Blunt with 8 fish for 39lb 5oz out of peg 48 on method feeder and pellet waggler

Adrian Ager with 5 fish for 31lb 8oz from peg 42 on method feeder

Dave Chandler with 4 fish for 30lb dead from peg 38 on method feeder

Other weights were:

The Twilight series continues into the second round, which took place on Alders. Thankfully the rain finally stopped and the contenders were able to get through the river which formed in the lane leading to the fishery. With all the pegs going into the draw it would be a very open field.  The results were:

Brian Cripps 2-15-0 on peg 21

John Cox 2-2-8 on peg 18

Dave Smith1-13-0 on peg 5

The first match of the season has taken place! The first of the Twilight series was battled out on the west bank of Willows lake. The results were:

Pete Grayson Peg 50 23-1-0

Dave Chandler peg 41 21-8-0

Josh Purton peg 54 14-1-0
