The Norman Unwin memorial shield was contested at Willows in terrible weather in the tail end of Hurricane Bertha, but they boldly fished on and were rewarded with some carp. Paul Cripps won it from peg 52 with 36lb, and Karen came second again (the second time Karen has been runner up at her Dads memorial match) with 31lb. The match was made a rover so that everyone could fish a swim they were happy with. No small bags because everyone held out for carp, points not being important in this match. The full result:
Paul Cripps peg 52 36-2-0 4 carp
Karen Smyth peg 49 31-10-0 3 carp
Dave Smith peg 34 22-8-0 2 carp

The fourth match in the club championship took place on Alders early in August. Again there were 14 anglers, using most of the weed-free pegs. Some of the big bream showed which lifted the weights and place all the top three with these bonus fish. Dave smith in 4th picked up some small tench to boost his weight. Everybody weighed in, even if it was just something tiny. The complete result was:
Dave Chandler peg 11 7-8-0
Richard Wiggins peg 5 5-6-0
Matt Tarrant peg 12 5-2-0
