Memberships are open for 2018

Following the AGM, the new membership form is now available for download on this site, and the new prices for this year have been published. As previously announced the club no longer requires a sponsor for Associate memberships. This makes it easier to join if you are outside Newbury. The number will still be capped and waitlisted if the cap is reached, and Associates are still bound by the same rules as for all members.

Renewing members will be able to collect their permits from Bellwood on the first two Saturdays in June, or from the tackle shop as usual from June.

Pike match championship 2016

The winner of the pike match series for 2016 has been confirmed, and the winner is Kevin Richardson. He was equal on points with second placed Ryan Davies, both on 65 points and with a match win each, but won it by having the largest fish between them. He also bags the Buckingham Pike Cup and the Ben Smith Trophy. This year Enborne canal was the most productive venue, with fish up to 15lb caught. Only a small band of hardy snapper hunters take part in the pike series, why not make a point of trying it next year.

New gate at Speen Moors

There is now a new gate at the bottom of Sandpit Lane from the A4 access to Speen Moors, which has a NAA padlock in the chain. If you are used to fishing Speen Moors and not taking you key please be aware you will need it from now on. Please remember to lock it behind you.

Post and pole removal at Alders

The metal poles and wooden posts, and the metal fencing will be removed from Alders this week. I am expecting contractors to be using a boat to pull the posts out vertically. This may take place as soon as Monday 11th January. Apologies for the short notice, the water will not be closed but obviously might be slightly disturbed and access to lower a boat in will be needed near the car park.
