Over 60's match 21st July 2021

On 21st July, 11 intrepid anglers set off to conquer the Everest of lakes, called Alders. The morning was very warm and each angler was hoping for a swim with shade. With Alders being a difficult lake during matches there was talk of practice sessions, new ideas, and bait variations. As with most matches the start was cautious and slow to get going. As the day progressed fish started to be caught by most anglers. By the last 90 minutes bream were being caught, Dave Smith leading the way, but Chris Evans was also now on the bream. The final whistle sounded at 3pm and weighing commenced. Dave Smith won weighing with 26lb 8oz, Chris Evans second with 12lb 14oz, third was T. Wirth with 8lb 11 oz. A total weight caught was just over 69lbs giving an average per angler of 6lb 5oz. With roach, perch, tench and bream being caught perhaps the lake is giving anglers more, or perhaps we've all improved. Mervyn Burrows is leading the league, but only one point in front of Dave Smith. Warm welcome to new faces, T. Wirth, D. Black, R. Coates. Roll on Willows. Tight lines to all. Henry Sadler.
