Over 70's match 7th July 2021
On a breezy, dull, but dry day an impressive 11 anglers fished the second over 70s match. The venue was Willows and a very keen band were looking forward to lots of fish and banter. After a slow start for most, except Kim Hodges who had two fish in the net by 10:15, the day progressed. Mervyn Burrows came out the winner with 29lb 10oz, including five carp using his secret bait. Second was Bill Dixon with three carp for 21lb. Third place was Keith Payne with 10lb 13oz, again including carp. Every angler caught fish with points well spread across the field. With his second, the artful Bill Dixon now leads the league by 4 points. The next over 70s match is 4th August on Alders, 9am draw. New faces always welcome, just turn up and show the rest how it's done! Tight lines to all.
