Hambridge Canal

To the east of Newbury the club has a long stretch of canal and waterway. It starts at Ham Lock towards Hambridge Road bridge, fishing on the south bank. The fishing also includes the backstream which flows beside the canal.

Moving further east the fishery runs from Hambridge Road to Bulls Lock, fishing on the north bank, then to the south bank opposite the power cables, and back to the north bank east of the swing bridge. Read the map carefully when using this section.

There is a short gap to below the railway bridge where fishing on the flowing stretch downstream to the Stakes, and continuing in still water to Widmead Lock.

This length contains most species owing to the mix of still and flowing water.

There is access from Bellwood car park, Hambridge Lane and from the Widmead complex.
