Enborne Canal

Just west of Newbury town the club has a 2 kilometre stretch of the Kennet and Avon Canal running from Benham Bridge to Egypt point. The best methods are pole or waggler fishing with light tackle. The width varies between approx 11 - 16 metres. The best baits for summer fishing on the canal include maggots, caster, worm and sweetcorn. Groundbait, loose feeding and hemp also work well and bread punch is good for winter angling.

This stretch has good specimens of perch, tench and roach for all year round catches. Fishing is from the towpath bank, except between Guyers Lock and The A34 bridge where fishing is available both sides.

Access is available from two points off Enborne Road, at Bone Mill Lane, with parking before the railway bridge, and Step-Up Cottage with parking at the end of the track. This stretch can be popular with walkers and cyclists at the weekends.
