Avington

The highest stretch of waterway controlled by Newbury AA is Avington. This is approximately a kilometre long stretch of the Kennet and Avon Canal running between Hungerford and Kintbury. The best methods are pole or waggler fishing with light tackle. The width varies between approx 11 - 16 metres. The best baits for summer fishing on the canal include maggots, caster, worm and sweetcorn. Groundbait, loose feeding and hemp also work well and bread punch is good for winter angling.

Access is via the lane from the road between Kintbury and Hungerford Common, and there is a car park  to the left just across the canal bridge.
