With  just three matches to go the over 60's visited Enborne canal, a venue which is reliably producing some fish on most pegs along the length. Henry Sadler took the win from the end peg which is always a good draw, with a good bream and plenty of roach. Dave Smith was second with a bag mostly of perch. Steve Thame didn't add to his "best 6" total, but Dave's second place meant he crept up slightly. The full result was:

Henry Sadler 6-2-0 End peg 17

Dave Smith 4-14-0 peg 9

Steve Myers 2-9-0 peg 13

The club championship returned from the summer break with a match on Speen Moors, which seems to be fishing quite well. Dave Smith bagged a win, Roger Durnford was second, and joint third were Malcolm Ward adn Dave Chandler. The full result was:

Dave Smith 7-0-0

Roger Durnford, 4-9-0

Dave Chandler and Malcolm Ward 4-6-0

For the second match in September the over 60s moved to Alders because it has been fishing well enough recently.  Steve Thame continued his winning run for a total of 4 wins in the series, to beat Brian Cripps. Because the series is the best 6 results, Steve and Dave Smith are dropping the weaker results now, and Steve is near his theoretical maximum with 58 points already. The top three found big fish, with only scraps for the lower places. The full result was:

Steve Thame 7-10-0 4 Bream peg 10

Brian Cripps 5-0-0 1 Bream 1 Tench peg 6

Merv Burrows 2-12-0 1 Bream peg 12

The 0ver 70's (and 80's) fished the penultimate match in their series on Knotts, where 9 anglers tried to improve their points totals. Ken North took the win, with Jim Knott and Bill Dixon tied for second. With one match to go Ken and Bill are joint leaders but any one of 8 anglers could still win the title. And with the very odd results that these matches have produces this year, its anyone's game. The result was:

K North 4lb 8oz

J Knott and W Dixon 1lb 8oz

The Over 60s now building up their momentum visited the Enborne Canal for the mid-September match. Probably keen to get a bit of practice for the upcoming Help for Heroes match the field set out for mixed bags. The fish were biting nicely and the weights were good for the top 3. Steve Thame restored his winning ways to win ahead of Brian Cripps. The full result was:

Steve Thame 8-6-0

Brian Cripps 5-5-0

Dave Smith 3-14-0
