Pike Match 19th October 2014

The first of the winter pike matches took place on Speen Moors. This is an event which doesn't get much coverage, and draws a specialised group of predator hunters. Ken Hunt took the win with 15lb 15oz for 50 points and David Taylor second with 8lb 6oz for 45 points.

Belinda Taylor, Nathan Wheeler, Ryan Davies and Kevin Richardson also took part and get 5 points for trying to catch the elusive snappers.

Club Championship 12th October 2014

The club championship match was moved from Speen Moors to Step-Up cottage because of bankside works on the river for this event. The canal fished well with an unusual result in that there were three tied weights in the order, including a tie for the win. So 15 points each for Martin Pallett and Brian Cripps. Martin recorded a perch of 2-12-0 in his winning total. With the series leaders scoring maximum points each Dave Smith and Steve Myers both lost some of their grip on the lead. The full result was:

Martin Pallett 7-2-0

Brian Cripps 7-2-0

Vinny Bonnick 6-13-0

Dave Chandler 6-13-0
