Seven anglers attended the final match of the season on a moody Willows, a change of venue from the planned Avington as its car park was too boggy.

 

With a cold and frosty start followed by a cold wind, the day was not easy fishing. Dave Smith was the winner on the day catching three Carp and one Tench, weighing a total 24lbs 11oz, fishing Peg 32. Second was William Bowsher on Peg 31 with two Carp for 13lbs 12oz, followed by Mervyn Burrows from Peg 50 with one Bream for 5lbs 12oz. For the rest of the anglers it was a story of lost fish and zero bites.

 

Congratulations to William Bowsher in winning the Over 60s Trophy, richly deserved for consistency in each match.

 

As this is my last report I thank all participating anglers for their support over the last two seasons. Should you feel you can do this job, Newbury AA needs you to keep the matches running.

 

The AGM is looming and the new season will soon be upon us. Get involved, support the club and matches, and keep this long established club strong.
